Company uses patient's genetic profile to better medicate disorder
MASON, Ohio —A Mason company may play an important role in helping service members fight against post traumatic stress disorder.
Ohio Sen. Rob Portman got a chance to learn more today about the company Assurex and its genetic testing that better connects people with the right prescription medications to treat mental health disorders.
Portman toured the labs where the company processes hundreds of genetic tests every day.
A cheek swab is used to develop a genetic profile of the patient. Then that patient’s specific genetic code is screened against medications to treat conditions like depression.
Assurex President and CEO Gina Drosos said doctors and patients are finding better results.
