"Endorsed" Ads Highlight Rob's 19 Newspaper Endorsements 

Campaign Releases Two Ads Highlighting Cleveland Plain Dealer and Columbus Dispatch Endorsements

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Today, the Portman for Senate campaign released its latest TV ads, "Endorsed," highlighting Rob's 19 endorsements from all major newspapers in Ohio that have endorsed in this race, including several that previously endorsed Ted Strickland. Separate ads will air in the Columbus and Cleveland markets highlighting the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Columbus Dispatch endorsements. Of the 21 newspapers that have endorsed in Ohio's race for United States Senate, 19 have endorsed Rob. The two ads will begin airing immediately.

So far, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Crain's Cleveland Business, the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Columbus Dispatch, the Courier, the  Akron Beacon Journalthe Youngstown Vindicatorthe Martins Ferry Times Leaderthe Highland County Press, the Lima News, the Wheeling Intelligencer, the Tiffin Advertiser Tribune, the Chillicothe Gazette, the Times Gazette, the Parkersburg News and Sentinel, the Elyria Chronicle-TelegramCall & Post, the Minority Communicator Newspaper and the Canton Repository have all endorsed Rob for U.S. Senate.


Last month, the Portman for Senate campaign released its latest web ad, "Newspapers Agree," highlighting this month's endorsements of Rob by (in chronological order) the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Columbus Dispatch, the Akron Beacon Journal, the Youngstown Vindicator, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Akron, Youngstown, Cleveland, and Columbus papers previously endorsed Strickland for governor and some endorsed Rob's Democratic opponent in 2010. The newspapers highlighted Rob as a "superior candidate," pointing to his record of results for Ohio, including his work to combat both the heroin epidemic and human trafficking, as well as Strickland's failure to "offer his own clear road maps," saying "it's hard to believe Strickland could make a difference in the Senate."
