COLUMBUS, Ohio – Today, the Portman for Senate campaign launched its Veterans Leadership Council. This diverse group of veterans from across Ohio will be advising the Portman campaign on issues impacting veterans and helping to spread the word on Senator Portman’s policy initiatives to support America’s best and brightest.
Chaired by Air Force Veteran and Vietnam POW Colonel Thomas Moe, the Veterans Leadership Council will be an active component of the Portman for Senate campaign.
"Veterans, as well as those currently in uniform, deserve our steadfast support for the sacrifices they and their families have made for this country," Portman said. “I have been honored to work with veterans groups across Ohio to author and support legislation to help ensure all veterans get the respect, honor, and medical treatment they deserve, and I look forward to continuing to fight for Ohio’s veterans in the U.S. Senate."
"Rob Portman is fighting to get veterans the resources they need on issues such as mental health treatment, education, and healthcare," said Col. Moe. "Under Rob’s opponent, Ohio was 48th in job creation at a time when returning vets were badly in need of work. Ohio’s economy is on the comeback, and Ohio veterans can’t afford to go backward.”
