Columbus Dispatch: Portman irked by Obama's foreign policy

Sen. Rob Portman – and the rest of the U.S. Senate – won’t return to Washington, D.C. until after Labor Day, but in the mean time, he’s not hesitating to weigh in on President Obama’s foreign strategy.

First, he’s irritated about Obama’s admission that there’s no strategy to combat ISIS - also known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the terrorist group that has sponsored increasing acts of violence in the Middle East - calling that admission “ deeply unsettling.” “As we wait for the President to develop a strategy to combat ISIS, the danger to our national security, our allies, and innocent people across the region will only continue to get worse,” he said. “As we’ve seen in Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, and elsewhere, the absence of U.S. leadership and a comprehensive strategy to address global challenges carries significant consequences for U.S. interests and global stability.” Read the full story here:
