Rob's Fight Against Ohio's Addiction Epidemic
More than 25 Ohioans die every week from drug overdoses. Drugs have ravaged Ohio’s communities and are keeping too many who are battling addiction from achieving their God-given potential.
Rob has crisscrossed Ohio learning about what we can do to fight this epidemic. In Toledo, he heard stories of recovery and what works and what doesn't. In Marion, Rob heard from a family dealing with unimaginable loss because of addiction. In Columbus, he visited Amethyst, Inc. and met with women in long-term recovery from drug addiction. In Cleveland, Rob saw compassionate care being given to babies who were born addicted because their mothers were using while pregnant. People all across our state are hurting because of addiction.
Earlier this year, The President signed Rob's Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) into law. The new law:
- Expands education and prevention efforts
- Gives law enforcement tools to reverse overdoses to save lives
- Expands treatment and recovery programs to help Ohioans struggling with addiction and get their lives back on track.
